In "Aortic Ruptures", the
newest poetry collection by Vasiliki Dragouni, published by OTAN Publications,
war has no front line; it dwells within us. It throbs through the body, beats
to the rhythm of the heart and pierces memory like an open wound. In the 95
poems of this collection, the blood never dries, shadows do not remain still
and words carry a latent power within them.
"Aortic Ruptures" offer no
consolation; they offer truth. And perhaps that is enough, because through the
cracks, no matter how deep they may be, a subtle glow persists as a symbol of
resilience, like a flash of photons amidst dissolution, like the Sun of
tomorrow that refuses to fade, even when everything around it collapses.
